Why does the R8 4.2L Have Premature Compressor Failure?
Premature AC compressor failure on the R8 4.2L is largely due to its location directly beneath the driver side exhaust manifold. This placement exposes the compressor to constant radiant heat from the manifold, especially during normal driving and repeated heat cycles.
